Makerdays is a semester-long after-school maker program where children explore ideas, learn new skills, and bring their own projects to life through project-based learning.
Participants work on topic-specific challenges and projects from our Makercard library while also pursuing independent projects based on their own interests and curiosity. Working at their own pace, they develop skills in design, making and creative problem-solving using a combination of traditional tools, craftsmanship and digital fabrication technologies.
Through designing, building, testing and refining their creations, children intuitively learn and apply the design process while developing future-ready skills such as creativity, collaboration, critical thinking, complex problem-solving, confidence and independence.
The semester format gives children the time and freedom to dive deeper into projects, learn new techniques, and experience the satisfaction of turning ambitious ideas into reality.

Turn an idea into something people love.
A five-day holiday course where children learn how to transform an idea into a product, service or project with real-world impact.
Participants identify problems worth solving, develop and test their ideas, and bring them to life through hands-on making and prototyping. Using a mix of traditional tools and digital fabrication technologies, they create everything from early prototypes and branded products to logos, packaging, stickers and marketing materials using tools such as vinyl cutters and laser cutters.
Along the way, they learn the fundamentals of entrepreneurship, innovation, branding and storytelling while developing creativity, communication and problem-solving skills.
The week culminates in a showcase where participants present their mini-startups and share their journey with family and friends.
The best ideas rarely appear fully formed. They grow through curiosity, experimentation, setbacks, discoveries and persistence.
Over the course of a semester, children learn that challenges can be solved, skills can be learned, and ambitious ideas can become reality. Along the way, they develop creativity, confidence, independence and the courage to try something new.
The projects may last a semester. The confidence lasts much longer.

A Makerday is a 3-hour weekly class in Zurich where children invent, design, and build real projects in a fully equipped workshop. They use everything from hammers and scroll saws to 3D printers and laser cutters — and walk out with something they made themselves.

Children aged 6 to 14 living in or around Zurich. No prior experience needed. Most kids walk in for their first class having never touched a power tool, and walk out having built something they're proud of.

Your child will learn to spot a problem, sketch a solution, prototype it with real materials, and refine it through testing — the design thinking process used by engineers, designers, and inventors. Along the way, they'll get hands-on with traditional woodworking tools and digital fabrication (3D printers, laser cutters, vinyl cutters).

Each Makerday runs for 3 hours, once a week, in the late afternoon. You can reserve a single afternoon to try it out, or book a full semester (around 17–20 weeks) for children who want to go deeper.

What tools will my child use — and is it safe?
What tools will my child use — and is it safe?
Children work with the same kinds of tools you'd find in a professional Makerspace: scroll saws, hammers, drills, 3D printers, laser cutters, and vinyl cutters. Every tool is introduced with a short safety lesson before any child is allowed near it, and class sizes are kept small so each child gets direct supervision when using machines.

Both. We have a project library children can choose from, and we welcome kids who arrive with an idea they want to build. Semester students usually do both — starting with guided projects, then taking on something self-directed.
